런던대 UCL은 1841년 영국에서 처음으로 건축대학을 창설하였고, 대학원 이름인 바틀렛은 최초의 기증자인 허버트 바틀렛 경의 이름을 따서 지었습니다. 바틀렛은 영국과 전 세계에서 흔히 ’더 바틀렛’으로 불릴 정도로 세계적으로 명성이 있으며, 세계 최고의 건축학(Architecture), 계획학 (Planning Studies), 그리고 국제개발계획학(International Development and Planning Studies) 대학원으로 알려져 있고, 세계 최고 수준의 연구를 오랜간 지켜왔습니다. 더 바틀렛은 현재 런던대 UCL를 대표하는 Faculties중 하나입니다.

바틀렛은 3개 분야로 나누어져 있는데, 건축,, 건축/도시 계획 프로젝트 관리, 그리고 개도국에 대한 국제개발계획 지도를 목표로 하는 개발계획부 이며, 연구와 규모에 있어서도 세계 최고 수준을 자랑합니다. 바틀렛은 영국 건축대학의 명문인 런던의 AA 스쿨과 오랫동안 학문적 라이벌 관계를 유지해왔습니다.

2006년 세계 건축 계획 분야의 유명 학술지인 Architects’ Journal은 UCL 바틀렛을 영국 최고의 건축 계획 대학원으로 선정하였습니다. UCL은 많은 노벨수상자를 배출 하였으며 런던 중심에 위치하여 박물관, 도서관 사용이 매우 편리합니다. BSc로 운영되는 학부 과정은 총 3년으로 운영되며 석사과정으로는 March외에 Diploma 그리고 Urban design등 건출 관련 다양한 분야로 과정이 운영됩니다.
