Chelsea College of Art & Design는 영국뿐 아니라 유럽내에서 가장 규모가 큰 예술 대학인 University of the Arts London (UAL) 6개 소속학교 중 하나입니다. 영국의대표 예술대학으로서, 세계적으로도 예술대학으로서의 명성을 떨치고 있는 UAL의 소속 학교인 Chelsea College of Ar& Design은 원래 첼시 Manresa road에 위치한 South-Western Polytechnic 과 1908년에 Schoool of Art와 The Hammersmith School of Art가 합병되어 만들어진 Chelsea School of Art 이 두 대학이 1989년에 합쳐져서 만들어진 대학입니다. 높은수준의 Fine Art, Graphic Design, Communication, Interior and Spatial Design, 그리고 Textile Design의 교육을 제공하고 있습니다. 

 

Chelsea 대학교는 Anish Kapoor, Steve McQueen, Haroon Mirza, Mariko Mori, Mike Nelson, Chris Ofili, Mark Wallinger and Tatty Devine co-founders - Harriet Vine and Rosie Wolfenden와 같은 많은 터너프라이즈 수상자와 유명한 아티스트를 배출하였습니다. 

안전한 Pimlico 지역에 위치해 있으며 템즈강과 Tate Britian 갤러리가 바로 옆에서 있습니다. Chelsea 학생들이에게는 Tate Britian 카드가 주어지며 모든 기획전시가 무료이고 갤러리와 까페 할인이 됩니다. 많은 Chelsea 학생들이 영감을 받기위해서 수시로 가는 곳입니다.
